As a member state of the European Union {EU} Ireland is subject to the ludicrous laws that stem from Brussels. These laws range in the extreme German TUV, to the ridiculous attempts at noise level reductions. In order to represent Ireland alongside other member states Bikers rights groups, the Motorcycle Action Group Ireland {MAG IRE} was set up.
NOTE : For any one thinking of visiting Ireland, then we recommend that you get a copy of Roadrunner (MAGs magazine), whick is chock full of information, such as all the legal guff you need to know about bringing a bike over here, and accomadation lists.
MAG is a founding member of FEMA { Federation of European Motorcyclists Associations}, which is an umbrella of Riders Rights Groups for Europe
In
Ireland we have every type of road you could need ! From three lane motorways
to little country lanes. Driving is on the left hand side of the road.
There
are approx 80 M.C.C clubs in the Irish Republic covering every county. Other, groups
exist also covering Classic Clubs,Custom Clubs,Touring Clubs, Owner Groups
etc. The MC side is composed of 5 Clubs, now working together as the Alliance
MC Ireland. The AOA
Outlaws MC have now Chapters in Ireland, further details over at their
site.
As a result of so many clubs the Rally calender is a busy one ! The season
starts in February and ends in December.
To help coordinate all this activity, and to also provide a means of keeping
in touch with the scene The Irish Bikers Bible is published
two times a year.Click
here for contact details.
For a very detailed listing of Clubs and contacts online pop over to Michael
Stuart of Nightbreed M.C.C. (N.I.) site.
The
Bible, lists Rally dates and club contacts and is a MUST HAVE item if you
are interested in finding out what the story is !
Some of the bigger Rallys, especially the MC Bike Shows, are reviewed in the
UK Bike magazines like Back Street Heros and 100% Biker
The basic theme of all Rallys is to get together, meet old and new friends, and get drunk .
